One of the problems I have with the genre in which Numenorean operate is that in a lot of cases, the songs form a sum greater than its parts. It makes listening to single songs less enjoyable and almost, in a way, blasphemous. On ‘Adore’, Numenorean manage to sidestep this.

The feeling is mutual. Adore is impeccably produced, if slightly sterile. The drums are admittedly the weakpoint production-wise. They are clean, pristine, and without character, but they still do the job.
The instrumental track And Nothing Was the Same acting as an intermission between the more aggressive first half and the slower, clearer, more melodic, more experimental second half. What I like about blackgaze or post-black metal bands most is definitely the vocals.

3/15/2019 · Adore might not be the cold, stylistic perfection as shown on Home, it is definitely a (more than) worthy continuation of this bands’ quality and signature post-black metal sound. Numenorean choose to vary on some areas (vocals) and expand their guitar sound, while sticking to the elegant and balanced compositions. It probably has many more layers and bites that I missed over the many.
4/11/2019 · And there is no surer way to describe Adore (Season Of Mist), the latest album by Canadian avowed mourn-mongers Numenorean . All the elements are there, of course. It sounds suitably maudlin, and the music seems to downright ACHE for a chance to emote and be glum.
